A 23-year-old Wasilla man has been arrested on charges of murdering his father in a Christmas Eve shooting.

Alaska State Troopers said in an online dispatch that Mark Myers was arrested just after 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in the death of 51-year-old Julian Myers. A grand jury returned two counts of second-degree murder and one of manslaughter in the case, and an arrest warrant for Mark Myers was issued Tuesday.

The elder Myers had been found dead at a South Outrigger Drive home just before 9 p.m. on Dec. 24, when troopers responded to a shots-fired call. Troopers said at the time that the responsible person “has been identified and is cooperating with the investigation.”

Troopers spokesman Tim DeSpain said Wednesday evening that Mark Myers was Julian Myers' son, and that Julian had died from a gunshot wound.
