The Seward Highway is seeing closures north of Seward due to a fatal collision Wednesday afternoon involving a semi truck, according to Alaska State Troopers.

The wreck, near Mile 33 of the highway, was first reported at about 2:45 p.m. according to AST spokesman Tim DeSpain.

"It's believed at this point to be a single vehicle but it's a commercial truck, a semi," DeSpain said.

Troopers were still investigating what led to the collision Wednesday afternoon. DeSpain said Drivers should expect “intermittent road closures” in the area Wednesday afternoon.
