Iditarod musher Ryan Redington scratches in Shaktoolik
Veteran Iditarod musher Ryan Redington, bib No. 22, of Skagway, scratched at 9:25 a.m. Tuesday at the Shaktoolik checkpoint.
According to a release from the Iditarod, Redington scratched "due to the well-being of his race team," which he says is his first priority.
He had nine dogs in harness at the time he made the decision to scratch.
