If it's a sprint race through Anchorage, chances are Blayne "Buddy" Streeper will be celebrating a title.

On Sunday, under a brilliant blue sky, Streeper claimed his seventh Fur Rendezvous Open World Championship Sled Dog Race and second title in as many years.

"It seemed like nothing could go wrong today," he said after the race. "And after a week of hardships and challenges it was nice to finally have that run I've been working all year for."

Streeper finished with 13 dogs. His three day total time was four hours and 11 minutes.

The race, which has been running since 1946, is a signature event of the Fur Rondy week of events. Teams run 25 miles each on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, bringing the total distance traveled to 75 miles.
