A nationwide initiative got kids in Alaska and across the country up and and moving at the same time this week.

For 30 minutes Thursday, hundreds of students took part in PLAAY Day; a half-hour of organized activity. PLAAY stands for Positive Leadership for Active Alaska Youth.

This week's theme was "exercise leadership" and the activities focused on three aspects: superheroes, athletes and former presidents.

"We want active kids to just keep going, keep pushing, have fun and go out there and have some fun activities," said Ben Griffith, play leader with PLAAY Day.

The group livestreamed with kids from other states including Connecticut and Kentucky.
