Troopers: Man and woman found near Wasilla died in murder-suicide
A man and a woman found dead last week at a residence near Wasilla died in a murder-suicide.
Troopers responded Feb. 18, 2019 around 6:45 p.m. to a report that two people were dead at an address near Bogard Road, AST spokesperson Megan Peters confirmed via email Feb. 19. Once there, troopers located Wasilla residents Sarah Klingener, 47, and Shawn McVey, 57, dead on the property.
AST's General Investigation Unit took over the case while the bodies were sent to the state medical examiner for autopsy to determine cause of death.
On Feb. 26, troopers released an updated dispatch that Klingener's death has been deemed a homicide.
"All the evidence point[s] to Klingener being killed by McVey," Peters said in an email.
McVey died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, troopers stated. No one else is believed to be involved.
