Police ID Midtown homicide victim
Anchorage police have identified the victim in this case as 31-year-old Ryan Cannon.
Anchorage police are now investigating this case as a homicide, according to a statement from the department Thursday.
The preliminary investigation shows the victim is an adult male who suffered trauma to the body; his name will be released after next of kin are notified.
Detectives are still looking to speak with anyone who may have information or surveillance video regarding the case.

Anchorage police are seeking information from the public about a death in the Midtown area reported early Sunday.
Police said in a statement that they responded at about 12:15 a.m. to the 1300 block of West 36th Avenue, just east of Spenard Road.
“A citizen had reported they saw a deceased person lying behind a business,” police wrote. “Officers responded and located the body. The person who made the discovery stayed at the scene and was cooperative with police.”
APD’s Crime Scene Team has processed the scene.
Anyone with information on the death, or surveillance video of the area, is asked to call APD at 311.
