Anchorage police have arrested the man they say struck a pedestrian with his vehicle in a hit-and-run on the Old Seward Highway last month.

Officers arrested 50-year-old Shane Walton Friday morning in the 900 block of West. 25th Avenue.

Photos of Walton and his vehicle were released in an APD statement on the collision at the time, which was reported just after 2 a.m. Jan. 24 on the Old Seward Highway near Scooter Avenue.

“The vehicle had a green light,” police wrote. “The victim pedestrian stopped in the middle of the road in front of the vehicle and the vehicle did not stop. After striking the pedestrian, the suspect continued northbound on Old Seward and made an eastbound turn onto Dimond Boulevard. It then immediately turned northbound on Briarwood Street.”

Walton faces charges of leaving the scene of an accident and tampering with evidence.

The pedestrian was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.
