Subaru recalls vehicles for faulty airbag inflator
Subaru of America, Inc. is issuing a recall on some of its vehicles, due to a defect in the passenger side airbag inflator.
The inflator may explode when the airbag is deployed, sending sharp metal fragments into the vehicle that could cause injury or death, according to Subaru's vehicle recalls website. The driver's side airbag is unaffected.
The number for this recall is TKC-19 and applies to certain 2010-2014 Legacy, Tribeca, WRX and Outback models, 2010-2013 Foresters and 2010-2011 Imprezas. Subaru is asking drivers to not let passengers ride in the front passenger seat until the vehicle is repaired.
To see if your vehicle has an open recall, use Subaru's VIN search tool.
Subaru says it will notify owners of the recall and dealers will replace the air bag inflator at no charge.
Owners can contact Subaru customer service at 1-844-373-6614.
