Alaska Zoo's polar bear couple gets first-time face time
The Alaska Zoo's two polar bears have officially met for the first time. The zoo posted the announcement on its Facebook page Thursday.
Cranbeary, a 16-year-old female from the Denver Zoo, came to Alaska in October last year. Officials hope to breed her with their male polar bear, Lyutyik. The two have been kept separate since Cranbeary's arrival, so she could adjust to her new environment. After their Thursday morning introduction, however, they live in the same habitat.
Check out this video of Cranbeary and Lyutyik's first meeting.
The zoo also has a live webcam feed of the enclosure for the public to view the bears.
