Just after 3 a.m. Saturday, police in Anchorage responded to the 9200 block of the Old Seward Highway south of Dimond Boulevard for a serious injury crash, according to a statement from the Anchorage Police Department.

A preliminary investigation suggests the vehicle was traveling northbound when it struck the man who was walking the the left lane of the road. APD stated a witness and the driver stopped and immediately called 911. The driver was cooperating with police.

"Toxicology tests will confirm but alcohol/drugs are not thought to be a factor on behalf of the driver," APD's statement reads. "It is unknown at this time if they are factors for the pedestrian."

APD said there is no intersection or crosswalk where the collision occurred. There are no charges being filed at this time.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
