A cyclist is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries after a collision with a car on Tudor Road early Monday morning, according to Anchorage police.

At 7:48 a.m., officers with APD's patrol division were dispatched to the scene of the crash at the intersection of Tudor Road and Arctic Boulevard.

"The preliminary investigation has found that an adult male driver of a gray Audi was traveling eastbound on Tudor with a green light and an adult male cyclist was traveling southbound on Arctic towards Tudor against traffic through a red light," a release from the department said. "The Audi collided with the cyclist and the cyclist was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries."

Kendra Doshier, the deputy communications director for APD, said impairment is not believed to be a factor regarding the driver. When asked where the cyclist was riding, she said he was on the shoulder of the road.

The scene has been processed and cleared and officers expect no closures or delays as a result of the collision. No charges have been filed at this time.
