Anchorage offers furloughed feds free bus rides
The Municipality of Anchorage is giving free trips on People Mover and AnchorRIDES to federal employees during the partial government shutdown.
Affected employees can show their government IDs on People Mover, or identify themselves as federal employees when scheduling an AnchorRIDES trip.
Mayor Ethan Berkowitz says Alaskans take care of each other.
“During a time when federal employees are paying a price for the federal shutdown, we hope offering free transportation might help make things a little easier,” Berkowitz said.
To find out where your closest bus stop is, call the Ride Line at 907-343-6543 or visit People Mover's website.
