Fairbanks police: Man killed mother, stayed with her body for days
Fairbanks police have charged George Tuukgaq Rosa, 34, with murder for killing his mother, 70-year-old Molly Agnavigak Rosa, according to a release from the department Wednesday.
Officers responded to an apartment on Bridget Avenue at about 10 p.m. Tuesday, after a 911 call. The caller said he hadn't heard from Molly Rosa in about a week and when he went to check on her, found her normally tidy house was messy and had a strong odor. He discovered her in a bed; her hand was exposed and discolored. He went to a neighbor's residence and called police to report her dead.
When officers arrived, they found George Rosa hiding in the bathroom. They say he was acting erratically and, during the investigation, eventually confessed to choking his mother to death about five or six days earlier. He had stayed in the apartment with her body since her death.
George Rosa is charged with first-degree murder, according to the Fairbanks Police Department.
