The University of Alaska Anchorage's Caroline Kurgat picked up where she left off last spring.

The senior from Elderet, Kenya blazed the course at the UW Preview in Seattle, running the 3,000 in 9:07:05 to begin the indoor season. In the process, it broke a 36-year mark for Division II athletes.

The 2018 Honda Athlete of the year and All-American used up her eligibility for the fall cross country season. This was her first race since winning the 5,000 at the NCAA Championships last May.

Fellow Seawolves Danielle McCormick, Ruth Cvancara and Felix Kemboi also earned provisional qualifying marks.
