A Southeast Alaska man accused of sending explicit images to a teenage girl in 2017 was found guilty this week, according to Alaska State Troopers.

A Ketchikan jury convicted 19-year-old Metlakatla resident Walter Forsberg on 10 counts of possessing child pornography, troopers said in an online dispatch Friday.

Troopers began to investigate the case in September 2017, when a 15-year-old girl said she was getting explicit images from him.

Troopers and the Alaska Bureau of Investigation found images on Forsberg's cellphone of children ranging in age from 18 months to 10 years old being sexually abused.

On Jan. 25, 2018, Forsberg was indicted and arrested on an outstanding warrant.

Each of Forsberg's child pornography counts could carry two to 12 years in jail, troopers said. The conviction also means he will have to register as a sex offender for 15 years.
