A 32-year-old Wasilla man was sentenced Thursday to 50 years in federal prison for trying to meet up with a young girl to have sex.

Justin Raymond Nekeferoff's sentence for attempted production of child pornography and attempted enticement of a minor includes a lifetime term of supervision after his release, according to U.S. Attorney for Alaska Bryan Schroder's office.

Nekeferoff was arrested in 2015 after he went to a Wasilla motel in order to meet a mother and her 8-year-old daughter to have sex with the child. The woman posing at the mother was an FBI agent and there was no child. Nekeferoff told police after he was arrested that he thought about having sex with kids “all the time,” and admitted to having molested other children previously.

A witness told law enforcement that Nekeferoff wanted to have sex with girls as young as 4 years old. The witness had text messages from Nekeferoff saying he liked to look at “lil girls in the stores.”

"At the sentencing Judge Timothy M. Burgess noted that the defendant was himself the victim of sexual abuse as a child," prosecutors said in a statement. "[H]owever, that did not diminish the severity of his conduct or the Court’s desire to '[make] sure our children are protected.'"

“He is what he is, and I can’t change it,” Burgess said, according to prosecutors. “What I can do is make sure children are protected from him.”

The FBI and Anchorage police investigated the case.
