Employees and patients at the Alaska Regional Hospital campus spotted an unusual sight in a lobby Monday morning: A moose.

The "only-in-Alaska" moment, at Medical Office Building E, was captured by Facebook user and Wise Physical Therapy employee Stephanie Marie Hupton.

"It was amazing to see up close," Hupton said. "I've lived here for three years and never have been so close, especially not in the same building as a moose."

Hupton, formerly of Iowa, said she had only been this close to deer prior to the encounter.

"It was an amazing sight to see," she said.

In the video, the moose can be seen checking out the greenery just inside the entrance's revolving doors, around 11:35 a.m., then meandering out of the building through an open door.

Editor's note: An initial version of this story inaccurately said the moose walked into Alaska Regional Hospital, not Medical Office Building E.
