A Manokotak man was arrested after he was accused of strangling a family member during a disturbance involving alcohol over the weekend.

According to an Alaska State Troopers dispatch, AST received a report of the disturbance around 3:30 a.m. Sunday. Tribal Police Officers also received a report that there was an assault at the residence as well as gunshots.

TPOs responded and found Alexander Mochin, 39, assaulted a family member by strangling them and fired a shotgun off the front porch while intoxicated, the dispatch stated.

AST requested and received an arrest warrant for Mochin, charging him with one count of DV Assault in the 2nd Degree and two counts of Misconduct Involving Weapons in the 4th Degree.

Mochin was arrested by AST for an outstanding warrant and was later transferred to the Dillingham Jail for remand, the dispatch stated.
