Anchorage gets new electric vehicle charging station
Downtown Anchorage is getting its first electric vehicle charging station in 2019, which will be free for public use through the end of the year.
The station is located on the first floor of the 7th Avenue and G Street parking garage.
“EasyPark has been focused on offering parking amenities to our downtown customers,” Brian Borguno, parking director for EasyPark said in a press release Wednesday. “We’ve seen the presence of electric vehicles increasing in our garages and the EV station will provide a free amenity to a growing market.”
It's one of only a few public-use electric vehicle charging stations in Alaska. Other locations include Worthington Ford in Anchorage, a charging station in Cordova and a Tesla Destination station in Soldotna.
According to the release, most electric vehicle batteries will be charged from zero to full in less than 3.5 hours with the Siemens 30 Amp Level 2 VersiCharge electric vehicle charger at the station. The indoor-outdoor rated charger has a "user-friendly design," complete with a 20-foot flexible cord.
