A fatal New Year’s Eve vehicle-pedestrian crash has blocked part of Brayton Drive near Dimond Boulevard, according to Anchorage police.

Officers responded at about 5:30 p.m. Monday to Brayton, between Dimond and O’Malley Road, according to an APD statement.

“An adult male pedestrian was walking along the shoulder of the road near the 9400 block of Brayton Drive when the adult male driver struck the pedestrian,” police wrote. “The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital; he died as a result of his injuries shortly thereafter.”

Impairment wasn’t immediately believed to be a factor in the collision, police said. Neither the pickup’s driver nor its passenger were injured.

Brayton’s northbound lanes were closed as officers investigated the crash, police said.

Police are asking anyone who saw the collision, or who has surveillance video of it, to call APD at 311.
