The suspect accused of stabbing a family member in an overnight SWAT situation has been taken into custody, according to a release from the Anchorage Police Department.

Mark Brooks Sr., 54, now faces multiple charges, including Assault II and Resisting, after police said he produced a large knife and stabbed another adult male family member during a verbal altercation late Saturday night.

Officers with APD's patrol division responded to the 8000 block of Nadine Street in reference to the stabbing just after 10:00 p.m. on Saturday. According to the release, this was an isolated incident of domestic violence.

Police said the victim was taken to the hospital in a personal vehicle. He suffered non-life threatening injuries from a stab wound to his lower body.

SWAT officers responded to the scene early Sunday morning after Brooks ignored APD patrol officers' commands to exit the home. Nadine Street at the southbound lane of E 80th Avenue was temporarily closed off due to the incident and people were advised to stay clear of the area.

Police said alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the stabbing.
