The drivers and passenger involved in a Friday night Mat-Su crash are alive after the head-on collision  caused both vehicles to catch fire.

According to a dispatch from Alaska State Troopers, the crash occurred around 10:40 p.m. at the intersection of Hollywood Road and Vine Road near Wasilla as a 2007 Chevy Silverado heading north attempted to make a left turn onto Hollywood and collided with a southbound 2002 Ford Escape.

"The Escape burst into flames and subsequently burned both vehicles," AST stated in the dispatch.

Bystanders helped both drivers and a juvenile passenger out of the vehicles. All three were taken to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries that were not life-threatening.

Troopers wrote that both the truck and the SUV were totaled in the crash.

The driver of the truck was cited for failing to yield before making a left-hand turn.
