Unoccupied Homer residence destroyed in explosion
According to an Alaska State Trooper dispatch released Friday, Anchor Point Troopers responded to a report of an explosion and found pieces of a two-story residence blocking the highway near Mile 165.
Troopers said the home's roof flew 150 to 200 yards across the road following what is believed to be a gas explosion.
No injuries have been reported, and the exact cause of the explosion remains under investigation.
The Sterling Highway has since reopened.
