Anchorage police are warning drivers to be careful if they are heading south of Anchorage due to heavy snow and whiteout conditions.

According to a recent advisory, whiteout conditions are expected from milepost 101, near Indian to milepost 74 near Turnagain Pass.

Additionally, the entire Hope Road from milepost 0 to 17 is reported to have similar whiteout conditions.

The Alaska Department of Transportation is reporting that further south on the highway, driving is not recommended. 

The release from the DOT states from milepost 56 to Ingram Creek, there are slippery roads, drifting snow and blizzard conditions.
