Gov. Mike Dunleavy has tapped a spokesman who has worked for all three Republican members of Alaska's congressional delegation to become his press secretary.

Matt Shuckerow, a Dimond High School graduate, will start his new post on Jan. 2, according to a statement from Dunleavy's office.

Shuckerow currently works for U.S. Sen Dan Sullivan as his deputy communications director and spokesperson. He has also worked for U.S. Rep. Don Young and Sen. Lisa Murkowski.

Born in Kodiak, Shuckerow grew up in Anchorage and worked as a deckhand and crew member aboard Prince William Sound commercial fishing vessels before entering politics.
