APD identifies young men who died after shooting each other
Officials have identified the two young men who died after shooting each other in the 2800 block of West 29th Avenue on Sunday.
Daniel L. Bender Jr., 19, and Davon M. Dodge, 19, were identified by officials in a Tuesday press release.
On Monday, officials said they met inside of a truck to discuss the sale of a gun. At some point, they got into an argument, which led to the shooting.
The investigation is ongoing and officials are not releasing further information at this time.
Detectives with the Anchorage Police Department are on their way to the scene of a double homicide, officials said in a press release.
At around 5:10 p.m. on Sunday, APD dispatch received a report of shots fired in the 2800 block of West 29th Avenue. On the scene, officers with APD's patrol division found two adult males shot around a vehicle that was parked in the street. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives with the homicide unit, along with a crime scene van, are heading to the area, officials said.
West 29th Avenue between Turnagain Street and Wisconsin Street are closed at this time. Officials ask that the public avoid the area.
"There is no suspect/suspects information to release at this time," officials said in the release.
