Democratic challenger Kathryn Dodge announced on Wednesday that she will appeal certified results that gave her Republican opponent Bart LeBon a one-vote victory on Friday.

“My commitment is to do all I can to ensure that every legally cast vote is counted correctly," Dodge said in a prepared statement. " Ultimately, it's about determining, and honoring the voters' intent – whatever that may be."

Dodge said she wants the Alaska Supreme Court to review "several" ballots she believes weren't properly counted.

“This race has gone back and forth, favoring me and my opponent at one time or another during a lengthy process," Dodge said. "I believe that it is important to follow the process through so that absolutely no doubt remains about this incredibly close result."
