Free movies, skating and more: A guide for parents during ASD closure this week
All schools in the Anchorage School District are closed this week as officials work to repair damage from Friday morning's 7.0 earthquake.
Here's a list of free things you can do and places you can go with your kids to keep them entertained.
GCI is offering up to three free VOD movies to GCI TV customer accounts this week.
To redeem them, simply watch the movies and visit www.gci.com/EarthquakeVOD to tell them what you've watched. A credit will be applied within 60 days.
Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center
The first floor of the museum reopened on Tuesday with free admission to the public. According to a post on their Facebook page, the Discovery Center, games and movies in the atrium, and planetarium shows are also being offered at no additional cost.
The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and you can find more information at anchoragemuseum.org.
Dimond Center Mall
"If you need a break or if you're looking for something to do with your family, the Dimond Ice Chalet will be offering free ice skating for everyone - starting this Monday through Friday December 3rd- 7th," a post on the mall's Facebook page reads.

CRUSH Wine Bistro & Cellar
"Crush’s aftershock parenting plan: All ASD students get a FREE mac n’ cheese all week," a post on their Facebook page reads. "Bring your parents in & let them enjoy their lunch or dinner & we’ll give all ASD students a free, hot & cheesy, mac n’ cheese to fill the belly. We’re all in this together. Hang in there!"

Trailside Discover Camp
In a partnership with the Egan Center, Trailside will be hosting a free camp on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week. They will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. with age specific programming from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for kids ages four through 14.

The Alaska Club
"The Alaska Club is holding today at the South Anchorage club, a special South High Nordic Ski Team workout for students that are unable to practice and workout due to school closures," club representatives said in an email. "We encourage any other team coaches at any of the Anchorage High Schools to contact Kelly Driver at 208-340-2536 or at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information or to coordinate a similar activity."
The club is offering swimming, cycles, weights, cardio and team training to all sports teams that need to practice at no charge.
Awaken Church is hosting free movie matinees this week on Wednesday and Thursday afternoon.
According to their Facebook page, they are showing "The Polar Express" at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, followed by "The Incredibles 2" at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.
