Most schools in the Matanuska-Susitna School District will be closed through Tuesday while staff assesses the damage caused by Friday's 7.0 earthquake.

Schools that will be open on Monday are Glacier View, Trapper Creek Elementary, Talkeetna Elementary, Willow Elementary, Beryozova and Su Valley High School.

Gov.-elect Mike Dunleavy toured Houston and Colony Middle School on Saturday. According to the Gov.-elect's transition's team, both schools had extensive damage.

MSBSD posted on their website that no students, family member or unauthorized staff will be allowed in the affected schools through Tuesday. Superintendent Monica Goyette will be updating parents and staff through email on Monday, Dec. 2 at 2 p.m., she will also provide an update on Facebook.

There are 47 schools in the MSBSD.
