Anchorage police arrested a woman Friday on charges of sexual abuse of a minor in connection to "inappropriate actions of a sexual nature" that were announced by the Anchorage School District earlier the day before.

In a release late Friday afternoon, the Anchorage Police Department stated a school resource officer received the report involving an adult woman and male students on Oct. 18. Special Victims Unit detectives were assigned to the case and began investigating immediately, APD wrote.

Police say they discovered 42-year-old Stefanie Custard was engaging in sexual activity with multiple male students.

"We know that we have one victim that she had sex with and we also have multiple male juveniles that she sent sexually explicit images to through Snapchat, Instagram and her smartphone," APD spokesperson MJ Thim said.

Thim said Custard was arrested without incident. The department is determining if there are more victims.

There is no indication that criminal activity took place on ASD property or involved ASD employees. Police say that the school district assisted in the investigation.

Custard faces multiple charges including second-degree sexual abuse of a minor and unlawful exploitation of a minor. She could face additional charges, according to police.
Anchorage police are asking anyone with information about this case or those who believe they may have been a victim, to call non-emergency dispatch at 311.
