Tips from the public have led Anchorage police to a convicted murderer who reportedly walked away from an East Anchorage halfway house Wednesday morning.

Scott Brodine, 50, was taken into custody Saturday outside the Midtown Walmart store on A Street, police said in a statement Saturday evening.

"Officers made contact with Brodine and he was taken into custody without incident and remanded at the Anchorage Jail," police wrote.

Police say around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Brodine walked away from the Clithroe Center in East Anchorage and never returned.

The 50-year-old was convicted in the 1993 murder of Milton Termini.
