A man was killed and a woman seriously injured after colliding with a moose on the Parks Highway early Wednesday morning.

Alaska State Troopers say both people in the vehicle were ejected, killing the driver, 25-year-old Bryan Sprenz of Knoxville, TN, and injuring 21-year-old Lydia Hunter of Chapmansboro, TN.

It happened at about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26 at mile point 189. AST says Sprenz was driving a 1991 Jeep Cherokee and struck a moose in the road. Troopers from Healy, Cantwell and Talkeetna responded to the collision, along with EMS from Cantwell and the Mat-Su Borough.

Sprenz was declared dead at the site. Hunter was flown to Mat-Su Regional Hospital. Troopers say both victims' next of kin have been notified.
