A Mountain View shooting Monday evening left two people wounded, Anchorage police said, with no description of the suspect immediately available.

Officers responded just before 7 p.m. to reports of the shooting on the 500 block of North Pine Street, according to an initial APD statement Monday.

“Two adult victims have been transported to the hospital,” police wrote.

Both victims, police said Tuesday, were "shot multiple times in the upper body" and suffered life-threatening injuries after the suspect initially got into an altercation with one of them.

"Detectives believe this is drug-related and not a random crime," police wrote. "They are also trying to determine why the second victim was in the area. There is no suspect information to release at this time."

Officers briefly closed the intersection of Bliss Street and Thompson Avenue as they responded to the call, but it was reopened by 7:45 p.m.

Anyone with information on the shooting should call APD at 311, or contact Anchorage Crime Stoppers at 907-561-STOP or through its website.
