A young man in Manokotak was killed in a single-vehicle crash Monday, Alaska State Troopers said.

Word of the wreck that killed Darren Nanalook, 23, reached troopers just after 11:30 a.m. Monday, according to an online dispatch.

“Investigation revealed [Nanalook] was driving a 2003 Dodge pickup when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed,” troopers wrote. “Nanalook was pronounced deceased at the scene by local medical personnel.”

Nanalook’s next of kin have been notified, according to AST.

“Speed appears to be one of the factors in the collision,” troopers wrote.

The state medical examiner’s office will conduct an autopsy on Nanalook’s body, which was initially sent to Dillingham en route to Anchorage.
