Alaska's last Blockbuster Video stores have officially closed their doors this week.

According to the Blockbuster Alaska Facebook page, the DeBarr Road store in Anchorage and College Road store in Fairbanks closed for business on Monday.

Anchorage Blockbuster manager Kevin Daymude personally thanked all of the video store's customers in the post saying:

It has been a joy serving and making new friends for the past 28 years. I enjoyed sharing all of the stories and memories that came with being a part of Blockbuster. Thank you again for your patronage. I will miss each and every one of you.

In May, John Oliver, the host of HBO's "Last Week Tonight with John Oliver" donated some merchandise that actor Russell Crowe either wore or used on the set of some of his movies.

Those items included Crowe’s jockstrap from the boxing movie “Cinderella Man,” the vest he wore as Inspector Javert in a film adaptation of “Les Miserables” and director’s chair seat blacks for Crowe and Denzel Washington from “American Gangster” – which Oliver scored at an auction Crowe hosted following his divorce.
