Anchorage police are asking for the public's help to find two men whom they say assaulted a child near an East Anchorage middle school Wednesday night.

According to a statement from APD, a male juvenile was walking to Clark Middle School when he was approached by a couple of men who were playing basketball.

"The two adult males engaged the juvenile in conversation, asking him to play basketball with them," police wrote. "When the juvenile declined and continued walking away, the two males became verbally aggressive and physically attacked the juvenile victim."

Officers were notified of the alleged assault and responded to the area at 11:46 p.m., according to APD.

The child was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. APD spokesperson Kendra Doshier said police are not releasing his condition due to the ongoing investigation.

No surveillance footage has been released at this time.

Police are looking for a "lighter skinned" male in his early- to mid-20s with "cornrows or dreads" and believed to be between 6-foot-1 to 6-foot-3. The other male is described as a darker complected male in his mid-20s with a stocky build and believed to be around 5-foot-10.
