Heavy rain causes flooding across Susitna Valley
Heavy rain falling in the Susitna and Matanuska Valleys and across the Interior is causing many rivers and streams to run high and exceed their banks.
A Flood Advisory is in effect for the Susitna River Basin and along the Denali Highway through Wednesday morning.
The Little Susitna River and creeks in Hatcher Pass were running high Monday afternoon. Philip Walters shared this video of his hike along Reed Lakes Trail off Archangel Road showing the high water.
Further north, the Susitna River at the Denali Highway is at minor flood stage. Flooding is also likely further east on the Denali Highway along the MacLaren River.
Another round of rain is likely for the Susitna Valley and Talkeetna Mountains Tuesday but drier weather is likely starting Wednesday.
