NPS suspends search for overboard passenger
The National Park Service has suspended their search for a man reported as overboard from a cruise ship in Glacier Bay National Park.
Authorities say the 69-year-old male Holland America passenger was reported overboard Friday afternoon when he didn't show up for a medical appointment on board the ship Westerdam.
The NPS says they were notified around 7:30 Friday evening after a ship-wide search confirmed the man wasn't on board, and a search commenced.
NPS deployed boats and conducted searches by air in Bartlett Cove with support from the U.S. Coast Guard, though no signs of the man were found.
The NPS says a Coast Guard investigation is anticipated.
Bartlett Cove, located within Glacier Bay National Park, is northwest of Gustavus.
