Fire crews made quick work of a blaze at an elementary school playground Tuesday evening.

The Anchorage Fire Department says they were called out to the grounds of Mt. View Elementary School where crews extinguished a fire on the campus playground.

Anchorage Police responded to the scene, but APD spokespeople declined to comment on whether or not the fire was being investigated as suspicious.

AFD's spokesperson was awaiting a report before releasing further details.

Catherine Esary, spokesperson for the Anchorage School District, said the damage is near the $100,000 mark. Esary called the fire the second playground vandalism of the summer.

There have been a series of playground fires on school campuses in Anchorage in recent years.
