1 dead in crash on KGB Road in Mat-Su
Authorities in the Valley say one person is dead and two others are injured following a multiple-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon.
Paul Anderson, a 36-year-old Wasilla man, was named as the deceased Friday by Alaska State Troopers. Another Wasilla resident, 38-year-old Naomi Combs, and her passenger were taken to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Shortly after 3 p.m., the crash was reported on Knik-Goose Bay Road near Donovan Drive, just southwest of W. Fairview Loop in Wasilla.
The three-vehicle crash involved a Dodge Durango driven by Anderson, a Jeep Wrangler driven by Combs and a Subaru, Alaska State Troopers say. Troopers' initial investigation indicates the Durango struck the back of the Wrangler and then struck the Subaru. The driver of the Subaru, 42-year-old Robert Masterman of Bethel, was unhurt.
It's not yet clear which direction each of the vehicles was traveling.
Troopers had asked that motorists avoid the area until the scene was clear.
