With temperatures in the high-70s, Anchorage residents made the most of a beautiful day Tuesday.

Many snuck outside in an effort to enjoy the sunshine, while others took to the water in an effort to beat the heat.

At Jewel Lake Park, the beach was full from mid-morning 'til early evening, with lifeguards watching over mostly children in the water. Volleyball and BBQs were the order of the day.

Turns out, the high temperatures are also good for business-- if you happen to be in the business of selling fans and sprinklers, as they are at the True Value Hardware store on Jewel Lake Road. Owner Tim Craig said fans were flying off the shelves and might not last through the weekend if the warm weather continues. He said there's another item they can barely keep in stock.

"We have a Slip-N-Slide on sale but I have sold out," said Craig. "And all the ones I have for this week are spoken for, so I have to order more for next week. Hopefully, the weather lasts that long."

Others are hoping that it lasts as well. Anchorage residents seem to like what finally feels like summer.
