2 fishing guides accused of operating without registration
Two men are being sent to court for guiding and owning a guiding business without the proper sports fishing registration.
A June 14 investigation by the Alaska Wildlife Troopers revealed Rene Esteban Limeres, 66, of Healy, was employed as a sports fishing guide and was being paid to guide on Brushkana Creek, an Alaska State Trooper dispatch said.
He is also accused of not completing the required sports fish guide logbook and allowing his clients to sports fish without a license in their possession.
Kirk Stephen Martakis, 59, of Cantwell, employed Limeres, but was not registered as a sport fishing service operator, the dispatch said. He is the owner of Adventure Denali and Dish Denali.
According to Troopers, Martakis is also accused of advertising the unregistered business on four billboards along the Parks Highway. The Department of Transportation warned him twice to take them down.
Both Limeres and Martakis are scheduled to be arraigned in the Nenana District Court on July 31.
