The Rogers Park Community Council is looking for volunteers to help clear brush and trim trees along the Chester Creek Bike Trail.

The project is a joint effort with the Municipal Parks and Recreation Department in an effort to make the trail safer and increase visibility.

Organizer Gretchen Cuddy said trimming the brush back will allow trail users to see what's ahead, whether it's a moose, a dog running across the trail or a homeless camp.

Volunteers are meeting at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 9, at the Chester Creek Trail near 20th and the New Seward Highway.

Cuddy said some supplies will be provided. She emphasized that the group is not cleaning up garbage from homeless camps but instead tackling vegetation, including pulling invasive species.
