UAA has a new athletic boss.

Greg Myford brings a combination of marketing, administration and broadcasting to Anchorage. Wednesday, through a statement, the school announced his hiring.

 “I am extremely grateful and humbled by the opportunity to serve the University of Alaska Anchorage and their Department of Athletics," said Myford in the statement. "I understand the vital nature of our work, as our staff and coaches are charged with producing graduates who earn meaningful degrees and return to serve their communities as productive, honorable citizens.”

Myford spent 10 years at Penn State. There, as an administrator, he was involved in the upgrading of facilities, attendance and generating revenue for the department. 

His last five years have been spent at IMG College, regarding sports marketing with many major universities. His background is in broadcasting. He's a graduate of Penn State.

He takes over for interim athletic director Tim McDiffett who retired last month. He begins July 31.
