A man who was punched unconscious at a bus station in Fairbanks is in critical condition following a fight over a bike Wednesday afternoon, authorities say.

According to a release from the Fairbanks Police Department, 36-year-old Raye Diamond was pushing a bike near the bus transit park located at 501 Cushman Street in Fairbanks when 31-year-old Hoe Young Kim confronted Diamond saying that bike belonged to his friend.

"[Kim] punched Diamond in the face," FPD wrote. "The punch knocked Diamond unconscious causing him to fall and hit his head on the concrete."

Kim then took the bike and fled the scene.

Diamond was rushed over to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital where he reportedly had "brain bleed and swelling of the brain", the release said. He was then medevaced to Providence Hospital in Anchorage.

FPD officers and detectives looked at surveillance video from the transit center and were able to locate Kim at the Fairbanks Rescue Mission. He was arrested for robbery in the first-degree and assault in the second-degree.
