Anchorage Police say they have a suspect in custody following a shooting that left two people injured Downtown Wednesday night.

Rusty Tuuaga, 24, was arrested Wednesday night on charges including attempted murder, assault in the first-degree, tampering with evidence and reckless endangerment, APD wrote in a statement Thursday morning.

Officers were called to the 600 block of East 5th Avenue Wednesday night, near the Wells Fargo branch.

Two people were taken to the hospital, police say. One victim, an adult male, sustained life-threatening injuries, while the second, an adult female, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Responding officers set up a perimeter and located the suspect, who was taken into custody without incident.

Police say they believe the suspect and victims are known to one another and suspect the shooting is drug-related.
