AST: Fatal Matanuska Lake shooting appears self-inflicted
A Willow man was found fatally shot at Matanuska Lake according to Alaska State Troopers, who believe the shooting was self-inflicted.
The deceased was identified Wednesday by troopers as 41-year-old Bradley Reynolds, saying he was found in a gray Toyota pickup truck near the entrance to the Matanuska Lakes Campground.
Troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters reported the incident in an email late Tuesday morning, after reports emerged on social media of troopers examining a vehicle parked at the lake and surrounded by crime-scene tape.
"It appears the death is from a self-inflicted gunshot wound," Peters wrote. "Unknown if it is accidental or intentional."
Peters said Tuesday that troopers had been at the scene for a few hours, as part of standard practice during death investigations.
On Wednesday, she declined to say whether troopers had any update on the nature of Reynolds' death, saying only that the state medical examiner's office "will have the final say on that."
