There are a lot of ways to celebrate Spring and enjoy the festivities Anchorage has to offer over the Cinco de Mayo weekend. Whether your thing is big hats and horse racing or Mexican music and food, there are some great opportunities for fun on the first weekend of May.

Phil Crawford with 907Life joined Daybreak on Thursday to break down some of the fun events happening around Anchorage. Crawford brought up the Kentucky Derby, or as he called it: "One of the fastest and biggest sports celebrations in sports."

There is a Kentucky Derby party at Simon and Seaforts on Saturday, May 5. Attendees are encouraged to wear big hats and bow ties and enjoy the start of the classic American sporting event with a mint julep and real horses and jockeys on the red carpet. Festivities start at 11 a.m.

If you've got a taste for tequila and tacos, Crawford says on Saturday, there are going to be Cinco de Mayo celebrations going on all over town.

Those of you who are looking to celebrate the holiday at home with friends, he recommends whipping up an ice cold mango margarita.

Here's a look at Crawford's favorite recipe that's sure to please.
