Alaska State Troopers are asking North Pole residents to report any recent thefts or other property crimes, after a man was taken into custody on more than a dozen counts of theft early Saturday.

Troopers responded to North Pole just before 1 a.m. Saturday, according to an online dispatch on the arrest of 37-year-old North Pole resident Michael Beard, for “a report of someone on a bicycle entering yards, cars and sheds.”

“Troopers followed the bike tracks through the fresh snow and found numerous residences Beard may have been at. Troopers eventually found some stolen property and subsequently arrested [Beard] for 15 counts of theft in addition to trespassing and possession of methamphetamine.”

Streets involved in the incident included Badger Road; Brock Road; Clydesdale Drive; Dassel Court; Itta Drive; Long Shadow Road; Ric Drive; Staley Avenue and Woll Road.

Anyone with additional information on the thefts, as well as additional theft reports or other issues, is asked to call troopers at 907-451-5100.
